After suffering a heavy defeat in their tournament's opener against New Zealand, England made an excellent comeback and defeated Bangladesh by 137 runs in their second match of the ICC World Cup 2023 at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamshala, India on Tuesday.
The defending champions needed a massive victory to improve their net run rate (NRR), which they did as Bangladesh were all out for 227 runs in reply to England’s 365-run target.
Dawid Malan’s knock of 140 runs was the difference between the two sides as the 36-year-old’s remarkable century helped his side gain an important 137-run victory.
England will now play their next World Cup match against Afghanistan on October 15 in Delhi while Bangladesh will take on New Zealand on October 13 on the tricky wicket of Chennai.
